NFDC SCREENWRITERS' LAB: WEB-SERIES

The NFDC Screenwriters’ Lab is an annual programme that offers screenwriters the opportunity to experiment with and explore their screenplays under the mentorship of acclaimed international script and industry experts. Held under the Film Bazaar banner, the lab also introduces participants to global industry norms and practices. Additionally, the lab trains the participants to pitch and present their projects to domestic and international producers and investors. For the 2024 edition, we are inviting Web-Series projects of all genres into the lab as well, marking a new turn into an existing journey.

SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT

Before you begin, please read the Rules | Regulations and Undertaking for guidelines of the application process.

ELIGIBILITY
  • The Screenwriters’ Lab: Web-Series 2024 shall accept applications only from either Indian passport holders residing in India or from valid Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
  • Open for all formats, themes and genres.
  • Participant’s pilot episode script must be registered with Screenwriters’ Association or any equivalent body in your state or country. Unregistered scripts will not be accepted.
  • All the submissions including the script and dialogues must be in English at the application stage. However, the final web-series can be in any Indian language.
HOW TO APPLY
  • Create a MyFilmBazaar Account.
  • Use this ID to access the online application form.
  • The Regular Deadline for applications is August 30, 2024 (11.59 pm IST).
  • The Extended Deadline for applications is September 10, 2024 (11.59 pm IST).
  • The Final Deadline for applications is September 12th, 2024 (11:59 PM, IST).
  • Applications will not be considered complete till the payment has been processed.
  • Email/hardcopy applications will not be accepted.

Before you begin, please make sure you have the following:

  • Series Logline
  • Series Synopsis (150 words or less)
  • Writer’s Statement (100 – 150 words)
  • Link to past work (Attach in Writer's statement)
  • Episodic Synopsis (300 to 500 words per episode for all episodes)
  • Series Description (6 Pages min-10 pages max)

In addition, you are required to submit 

EITHER

  • Pilot Episode Screenplay/Script (Registered with Screenwriter's Association or a similar government recognised body)

OR

  • Detailed Pilot Episode Synopsis (Min 3 to Max 5 Pages) (Registered with Screenwriter's Association or a similar government recognised body) *preference will be given to scripts over synopsis

  • NFDC Film Bazaar 20 – 24 Nov, 2024
FEE
  1. INR 9000 for applications submitted on or before the Regular Deadline, August 30th, 2024 (11.59 pm IST)
  2. INR 9000 for applications submitted on or before the Extended Deadline, September 12th, 2024 (11.59 pm IST)
  3. The application fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee.

Since 2007, the Film Bazaar Screenwriters’ Lab has brought out notable projects that have not only gone on to receive exceptional acclaim at prestigious film festivals across the world but have also achieved commercial success in India.
